Photo Scavenger Hunt with Anika, Number 3

Ah, finally some spring-like weather. It was a wonderful afternoon to be out photographing. We went to Robach Landing on the Erie Canal this afternoon, and as usual, had a great time taking pictures.

These were my final ten photographs form today’s one^4 shoot. I’ll be posting my out-takes in “Other Stuff I Shot”, which will hopefully go up tomorrow.

Photo Scavenger Hunt with Anika, Number 2

It seems this is going to be a regular event. Which means I’m going to have to start recycling some of these “clues.” I was running late this afternoon when I created this list, and it seems I was in the mood for straight lines and corners. My photographs really continued that trend. Fortunately, Anika’s images added some softer shapes to today’s pictures.

Since the forecast was calling for rain this afternoon, we decided to go to The Memorial Art Gallery and photograph in the atrium (lots of light, no wet). When we arrived though, it was just overcast. And since we were able to get all the photos on our list from the grounds outside, we decided to save the MAG interior shoot for a real rainy day.

Once again we had a great time taking pictures, even if it was a bit cold. If our schedule permits, we’ll do it again next week!

Please feel free to comment here, Anika loves knowing that people are actually seeing (and enjoying) her work.

One^4, 27 March 2011 – Cornhill Landing

Today’s One to the Fourth photo shoot was amazing once again. Every week, I seem to enjoy it a bit more. It’s just a wonderful feeling to be creating photographs for no one but myself. There are no restrictions, there’s no one to please, just making pictures, making art. We had planned to do the downtown river area, but wound up staying right at Cornhill Landing. There was plenty to shoot, despite the freezing cold!

Our lens this week was wide-angle, roughly 28mm in 35 equivalent.

Anyway, here are the 10 photographs I chose for the shoot along with some of my out-takes. You can see my final ten at the One^4 site.

Number seven in the series: 10 photographs of 10 weddings from 2010.

A Photo Scavenger Hunt with Anika

Two days after our first-ever photographic outing last Friday, Anika asked me when we would be “shooting again.” Could I have been much happier about that question? Probably not, no. So, to make things a bit more engaging for her (even though she’s a 4th generation photographer, she is only 6 after all) I decided to make a game of it, rather than us just walking around talking pictures.

I wish I could remember where I saw the idea for a photographic scavenger hunt, but I certainly didn’t come up with it on my own and I’d like to give credit for the inspiration. If I remember, I’ll edit this post or mention it in a future one.

In any event, off we went. Since Rochester is having an early spring fitting of, well, Rochester, I figured we should shoot indoors. To that end, I stole my own idea and decided we’d head to the Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park. The very same place Bob and I shot for one^4 on Sunday. Easy-peasy, or so I thought.

I picked her up from school a bit early and we rolled in the Highland Park about 3:45. Upon entering the botanical garden we were informed it would be free today (sweet!), because they were closing in ten minutes (not sweet). So, we rushed though our shoot, but did manage to get all ten items on the list, and have a good time doing it.

Here’s to better planning next time.

Anyway, these are all of our photographs from the hunt. The captions are the clues, exactly as they were written, followed by the photographer’s name. Enjoy, we definitely did!:)
