I’ve fallen way behind on my photo editing and gallery posting, but I’m working to catch up. Here are a few pictures from our recent trip to Montreal. It was a fantastic weekend and much needed mini-vacation.

A New Wedding Season has Begun!

This year, I will once again be second shooting quite a bit for Lou Gonzalez of LifeShare Photo fame. Rather than duplicate his massive editing efforts, I’ll be building on my 10 10 10 piece, by posting a few of my favorite photographs from each of these weddings. The edits will likely feature roughly 10 images, but I’m leaving myself some room with the numbers (this one wound up being 9). The point will be to just pick the pictures that I like, for whatever reason. It’s more about posting the photographs I enjoy shooting, rather than representing the entire event.

So, enough babble, here are a few of my favorite photographs from my first wedding shoot of 2011: Emily and Jeff at Artisan Works in Rochester.

Cold, wind, sand, bad batteries; sometimes things just don’t go well. Despite the non-spring weather, we decided to go to the beach (Durand Eastman) this week. I’m still not sure why that sounded like a good idea (it was around 40˚ with 20-30 mph winds), but we did it anyway. Anika was shooting with one of my DSLRs for the first time, and it turns out the back-up battery I put in it was bad, so she only got to shoot about 15 photographs. I got wrapped up in some ground-level photography and didn’t notice the sand-storm blowing into my new G12… not good.

All-in-all, it was far from our best outing, but we still managed to put together an edit. There’s always next time. (Anika chose the last three ‘items’ again this week – they’re the ones with the “*”)

In one of my more brilliant moments, I showed up at this week’s One to the Fourth shoot with a near-dead camera battery and no back-up. I blame my first wedding of 2011 the previous day. Next week, checklists!

Despite only having 10 minutes of photographing, I managed to cobble together ten images. They’re certainly not my best work of this project, but given the circumstances, I’m OK with it.
